Over the past ten years Christella has produced and musically directed various professional live and recorded musical/theatrical performances, including producer for Rob Green’s new album, Parlour Tricks and producing and vocally arranging albums for Ella Andall in Trinidad. She has provided vocal and songwriting tuition for both national and international educational establishments and has performed and vocally directed many professional studio recordings and performance poetry showcases.
One of the highlights in Christella’s career was being invited by Geraldine Conner to represent Carnival Messiah in Trinidad at the World Carnival Conference in 1999. Her experience during this project inspired her to continue to work closely with the theatre and performance practitioners in developing sound and music for the stage.
In early 2007 she decided to initiate and develop her own Vocal Performance group "Caution" with the aim of developing the talent of local young singers and providing them with performance opportunities to develop their abilities within the city of Leeds. The group has been thriving for over four years now performing at Space2’s Theatre projects at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Seven Arts and Nottingham Playhouse. In 2009 Caution won Breeze Has Talent’s Best Group. Most recently they secured the opportunity to perform on stage alongside Choir Master Pete Churchill at the main Olympic torch event in Leeds at Temple Newsam and for her majesty the Queen at her Diamond Jubilee celebration in Leeds city centre.
Over the past 2 years she has been performing as a Vandella alongside Motown recording artist Martha Reeves on her recent European and UK tours. When back in Leeds Christella is working on her new album, celebrating a decade of her best works.
Christella was short listed for a Compostion for musicals award 2013. For more info click: http://www.artsfoundation.co.uk/Artist-Year/2013/all/397/Litras
